Each professons has some sort of advantage for buffs like inscription has wicked shoulder gliff can make dark moon fair cards, and some preaty nice off hand items.
Leather workers get gliff to wrist thats wicked
Jewl Crafters get epic jems wich are bop, boe rings necklaces and new epic gems.
Blacksmith get extra gem slots
chanters get chant to rings
Tailors get really nice glick to cloak.
Enginers get some items that help when leveling but they are supposed to be upgraded in new patch comming.
Cooking fish feast and buff food.
Fishing is nice gathering skill.
alchemy flask pots and some nice trinkets


Besides they can help increase your gold supply and help out the guild with items for raiding and recipes that drop can be made for people in the guild and could be upgrades. These things will help the guild in raids over all.

Reputation with certain factions helps to because can buy gliffs like sons of hordir has really nice should enchants. Kirin tor for spell casters has helm enchant, argent crusade has nice tank head gliff, and nights of ebon blade have nice head dps gliff. I am probubly missing something but these are sfew things I highly seggust you look into if you want to better your toon and help out the guild and raids.
